Wordpress 2.0

I have installed Wordpress 2.0 and I have to say that I am very pleased with all the new features this release brings to us.

The only difference that readers of this blog (actually only those who visit the site) will notice, is that I have converted back to the default theme of Wordpress. This is because my previous theme didn’t work with Wordpress 2.0. Most of the new features are in the admin interface. The admin user interface was redesigned to be more usable, clean and productive utilizing DHTML and AJAX.

Major new features:

  • New WYSIWYG editor for writing posts. The only new feature that I didn’t like. There is an option to disable this at the user’s profile page.
  • AJAX editing of Categories and Links.
  • Improved post preview. Now in the post preview you see exactly how the post is going to be displayed by Wordpress in an iframe.
  • The whole admin interface now is dragable. You can now drag-and-drop almost all forms of the user interface to customised it for your needs.

You can see some screenshots of the Wordpress 2.0 admin interface here.

Kudos and thanks to the Wordpress developer team for this great new release.
